We are very pleased to be the final home of the great Winks Revelation. Revelation's heritage is one of solid consistency!

We acquired Rev in 2001 at the age of 21. Even now, at 27 years, he is a breathtaking piece of living history. Rev is the firstborn son of Winks Jangles, and the only known son of Jangles bred to Decision. He is also the last living son of Wink Decision, hailed by many as a mare 30 years ahead of her time. Rev has given us four sons so far to carry on his legacy!

His personal history has been one of primarily showing and pampered pet, but not breeding registered foals. He won, in his early years, many times in open pleasure driving, including Grand Champion Pleasure Driving in 1984,85, & 86 at the  Iowa State Fair, at that time the AMHR Mini Nationals. If the title had been given back then, Rev would have been a three time National Grand Champion Open Pleasure Horse per the registry. His owner bred Welsh Pony's and he was used to breed Welsh mares for a time, for smaller driving ponies. *NOTE-IF YOU OWN A HALF WELSH SIRED BY REV, OR CAN HELP US FIND ANY DAUGHTERS, WE ARE LOOKING.* He then was purchased by a wonderful home where he spent many years as a treasured pet and pleasure driving. We are still grateful to have been allowed to purchase him to head up our preservation program. He has very few foals in the books, and all sired at SilverWind are being retained for 2nd generation breeding. The Winks line is nearly lost, but still heavily respected. Most ended up in programs 'improving' the herds, and their traits are still obvious to the third and even fourth generation. This level of prepotency is unusual in Mini's and we feel well worth saving.

We have tracked down and purchased many closely bred mares for him, and are impressed with the results so far. We have also implemented the blood of the late, great stallion Choco's Litle Specks Red Boy as that was the line Mr Winkelman was introducing at the time of his unfortunate dispersal. His judgement we felt was validated in the Jess's and Lowrey's successful breeding programs with Red Boy and 3 Winks mares..but that history is on the Winks page ;-)

The Winks blood excels, we feel, from head to tail. Distinct characteristics of the line are tiny inward tipping ears, beautiful heads with large soft eyes that taper to TRULY teacup muzzles, naturally refined throatlatchs, good solid shoulders with neck tied in properly and well, level toplines with good length of hip, and strong bone down to and including the hooves. Their naturally flowing & balanced conformation results in naturally flowing and balanced motion, with a long sweeping stride and good knee/hock lift. They also seem to be natural jumpers and enjoy galloping and jumping obstacles in their fields, whether it's a small bush, the stream, or each other sleeping! The line is also very intelligent and friendly, something we feel is equally important! If I couldnt' trust my children with them, they wouldn't be here. They are a sound of mind, level headed, intelligent horse.

Rev is starting to stiffen up a little, but is still all stallion. His breeding will be carefully selected and limited so as not to tax him, and his sons are beginning to step in and help with the program. We are excited however to see how they prove to produce, and hope you anxiously await next years crops with us! SilverWind Rev's Little Jangles and SilverWind Rev's Little Kernel (named after grandsires, yes) pictured below relaxing in the field together. Jangles is a silver bay pinto, Kernel a sooty buckskin or chocolate palomino pinto.

Please visit our mares pages to see who they are breeding, our Winks page for pictures and information on their extended backgrounds, and feel free to contact us at any time with information on Winks bred horses, or for more information on them! There are still a few we are trying to track and are grateful for any leads.

He got his sire's ears! Love it...and color, thankfully! One last photo of Rev:
